Finally swapped out the four-year-old originals and the difference is night and day; the foam disk sits perfectly and the clamp feels evenly distributed again. My HD 600s sound like they did the day I bought them, so if you're on the fence about replacing pads, just do it.
My old pads were so compressed the headphones were basically sitting on my ears — these are plush and firm again, exactly the stock feel. The foam disk goes in easily and the clamping pressure is back to where it should be, so the soundstage opened right up.
